The Fifth International Conference on Exotic Nuclei and Atomic Masses (ENAM)
September 7 – 13 , 2008 Ryn, Poland

3rd circular - final information

The Fifth International Conference on Exotic Nuclei and Atomic Masses (ENAM'08) will be held in Ryn, in the Mazurian Lakes District in Poland, on September 7-13, 2008. It is organized by the Physics Department of University of Warsaw jointly with the Sołtan Institute for Nuclear Studies, Świerk. Details, announcements and updated information can be found on the conference web page: http://enam08.fuw.edu.pl.

Scientific program

The program consists of invited talks and a number of oral presentations selected from contributed papers, complemented by a poster exhibition. Selected posters were accepted for a very short oral presentation. The program of the conference is posted on the web page: http://enam08.fuw.edu.pl/scientificprog.html

Posters should be prepared in the vertical (portrait) orientation. They should fit within a rectangle of 86 cm 120 cm. This includes the popular formats A0 and E.

Proceedings (!)
We remind that there will be no conference proceedings of ENAM 2008 in the traditional sense. Instead, a special issue of EPJ A provides an opportunity to have original material refereed and published quickly. Accordingly, authors interested in making a contribution will be requested to submit their full paper by the time of the conference on their own initiative. The time slot for submissions has been fixed from 1 September 2008 until 30 November 2008. Articles submitted must be strictly journal length and quality and each will be refereed like any regular paper of its kind submitted to EPJ A. Note that this offer applies equally to all contributions - papers presented as invited talks, oral presentations, and posters will be treated on equal footing.

The links to the information on the manuscript types available, on the style files which must be used, as well as a detailed description of the electronic submission procedure is posted on the conference web page: enam08.fuw.edu.pl/proceedings.html. Note, that a special subject area code of a manuscript (ENAM 2008), will have to be selected in the submission process. In case of questions or problems with your submission please contact the Editorial Office www.epj.org/contact_a.html.

Papers can be submitted after the time slot has been closed but inclusion in the special issue cannot be guaranteed and such articles will - if accepted for publication - be published in later issues as individual papers.

In addition to the special EPJ A volume, the organizers will produce a CD-ROM containing all presentations (upon agreement of the authors). Each participant will receive both the EPJ volume and the CD.

Location
A venue of the conference is located in Ryn, a small town placed between two lakes belonging to the chain of the Great Mazurian Lakes. Ryn is located about 20 km north of Mikołajki and about 240 km north of Warsaw. The meeting will be held in the Hotel CASTLE RYN****, a 14th century castle established by the Teutonic Order, now rebuilt and converted into a modern conference-leisure center. More information can be found on the hotel web page: http://www.zamekryn.pl/en/.

Payments
The deadline for payments is August 20. In case on any question or problem, please write to enam08@fuw.edu.pl

Social Program and Leisure
On every evening, except Wednesday (Sept. 9), some social events are planned. On Sunday, after registration and dinner, we invite you to the welcome reception. On Monday there will be a special lecture on the history of Castle Ryn and on relations between Poland and the Teutonic Order, given by a professional historian. On Tuesday a historical performance, including a show of medieval dances, will be presented. Poster session is planned on Thursday evening. On Friday the conference dinner will be held with life music.

There will be a number of leisure and sports attractions for conference participants and accompanying persons. They include a small swimming pool with jacuzzi and sauna, a fitness room, a tennis court, a place to shoot with a bow, and others. Two lakes and the forest offer many out-door activities. There will be possibility to rent bikes, kayaks, and sailing boats. Some group activities and excursions for interested participants will be proposed.

Travel information

The easiest and most convenient way to get from Warsaw to Ryn and back, is to take a conference bus. The buses will go to Ryn on Sunday, September 7, between 10:30 and 15:30, starting from the Institute of Experimental Physics, Hoża 69, Warsaw. You can get there from the Warsaw airport by taxi or by the public bus no. 175 (get off at "Dw. Centralny" bus stop). In case of any transportation problem on this day, please call ENAM emergency number 1 (see below). The return buses to Warsaw will start from Ryn on Saturday, September 13 morning. More details on the organized transportation and on the hotel reservation in Warsaw are given at: http://enam08.fuw.edu.pl/php/travel_info.php

For participants arriving too late, or travelling on their own, there are other ways to get to Ryn. One is to rent a car at the airport (www.lotnisko-chopina.pl/content/arrival/en/rentacar.php). A much cheaper option, however more complicated, is to use a public bus. First, take a taxi from the airport to the bus station "PKS Dworzec Zachodni". From there take a bus to Mrągowo (230 km, 4h 30 m). In Mrągowo you may take a taxi to Ryn (22 km) or call us and we pick you up by a car.

In any case, please fill the Travel Form at: http://enam08.fuw.edu.pl/php/travel.php ! Please do it before August 20.
